#3 🪨 Painted Rocks!

This has to be one of the easiest and most loved crafts we’ve done with the kids. We found some acrylic paint pens online, which means no paint brushes and messy paint (amazing for cleanup when you have many little hands involved), but if you’re feeling fancy, you can’t beat the holy grail Posca pens💖 We are not quite that fancy (yet) so we just have the cheaper version, which still do the trick.

I’m not sure if it’s a global trend, but here in New Zealand it’s VERY popular! We paint rocks, then hide them around the country for others to find. It’s like arts and crafts meet treasure hunting! Our absolute favourite spot to hide (and hunt!) is the Redwoods in Rotorua. It’s the best way to spend a day outdoors, plus we get to enjoy the creative side at home too. Win-win!

Tip: If you are going to be hiding it outside and want to protect it from the weather, cover it with a thin layer water-based sealer. Mod Podge is great, or we sometimes use a generic water base sealer.
